How to Care for Your Hair Tools

How to Care for Your Hair Tools

As with any products and tools that you use, it’s important to keep your hair tools clean. We always make sure to keep make up brushes clean for hygienic reasons and the same applies to hair tools. It’s easy for products to build up on hair tools and if it becomes excessive then every time you style your hair, you’re adding old product to your hair. Here are some great ways to keep your hair tools clean.

Flat Irons and Curling Irons

The same cleaning rules can be applied for both of these hair tools. To start off you’re going to want a microfiber cloth and get it wet with plain water. Make sure to wipe the exterior and interior of the tool. A great way to get rid of the build up in the different crevices is to use a cotton swab with water.

You may still find some tougher build up from all of your products. In order to get rid of this you can make a paste with water and baking soda. Put the paste on the built up area and then use a toothbrush to scrub wherever there is the build up. Then simply wipe it all off with the microfiber cloth.

You can also use different products such as rubbing alcohol or a cleaning product from a beauty supply store. You can be the judge of this depending on how dirty your tools are.

One of the worst parts about hair dryers is how much dust can get built up in the back vent. If you don’t clean them properly then it will easily overheat and smell terrible. Eventually, this will lead to it breaking.

Preventing this can be very simple! All you need to do is take your tweezers to get the chunks of dust out of the back vent. It’s amazing how such an easy fix can stop you from needing to buy a brand new hair dryer.

The attachments can also get dirty. Soaking them overnight in water can easily clean all of the attachments. They’re very durable so no need to worry about them.

Good to go!

These steps are so important. Not only will it help to keep your hair tools functioning for more much longer, it will keep your hair clean and free from getting damaged. It’s best to clean after each use to avoid tough build up that can be hard to get off. Take the time to do some maintenance and you will see how well it pays off in the long run.
